Alerts to family, then to a neighbour who can knock on the door
When something is wrong, every family member is alerted — and if nobody can reach your parent, the local contacts you chose are asked to check in person.
Who is alerted
Up to four family members share one plan. Each chooses how to be told — in the app, by email, on WhatsApp — so an alert at 3 AM in New Jersey is seen by the sibling in Singapore for whom it is mid-afternoon.
What triggers an alert
- No reply to the check-in, the reminder and two phone calls.
- Your parent taps "Please call me".
- Your parent says they are unwell, or uses words such as chest pain, fell or breathless — understood in ten languages.
- A reading outside the usual safe range.
The ladder
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | Family members are alerted, with a one-tap button to call your parent |
| 2 | If nobody in the family acknowledges the alert within about an hour, your local contacts get a WhatsApp message asking them to check on your parent, and the nearest one gets a phone call |
| 3 | A local contact replies "Reached" once they have seen your parent; you are told at once |
| 4 | If it is still unresolved, our desk calls the family and the contacts |
Local contacts
A local contact is someone near your parent who has agreed to be asked: a neighbour, a relative, the society manager. You add two when you set up. They are messaged only in an alert, never for marketing, and only the minimum is shared with them.
You stay in control
Acknowledging an alert pauses the ladder. If you have spoken to your parent and all is well, one tap closes it, and nobody else is disturbed.
Choosing local contacts
- Someone who lives within 30 minutes and is usually at home.
- Someone your parent likes and will open the door to.
- Someone who has said yes, and knows what will be asked of them.
- Two people, in case one is travelling.
What the local contact receives
A WhatsApp message in their language: that your parent has not answered today’s check-in or our calls, and that you are asking them to look in. Two buttons: "Reached" and "Cannot go". Nothing about your parent’s health is sent unless an emergency makes it necessary.
What this is not
Athnova Care is not an emergency service and does not send an ambulance. In an emergency in India the number is 112.
Questions families ask
Can my siblings abroad and in India both get alerts?
Yes. Up to four family members, in any country.
Will the neighbour be messaged every day?
No. Local contacts are messaged only when an alert reaches them.
What if I see the alert and everything is fine?
Acknowledge it in the app and the escalation stops.
