ConfirmOk vs Athnova Care: the “press 1” call, with or without WhatsApp
ConfirmOk makes a daily “press 1” call and alerts family or a sheriff’s office; Athnova Care checks in on WhatsApp and calls if they go quiet. Compared for October 2026.

The short answer
ConfirmOk is a daily check-in call for people who live alone: at the scheduled time the phone rings, they press 1 and # to confirm they are OK, the call is retried up to three times, and a missed check-in alerts the family or — in the programmes it runs with sheriff’s offices and police departments — a deputy. Athnova Care uses the same “press 1” call as its follow-up for parents without WhatsApp, but for most parents it starts with a WhatsApp message in their own language and ends with the family and a neighbour, never a police dispatch. ConfirmOk suits a senior in the United States whose county runs a programme on it, or a family that wants a plain call. Athnova Care suits a parent in another country or language, and a family that wants more than a yes/no.

What ConfirmOk does well
Its agency work is unusual: when a county signs up, the daily call is free for the seniors in the programme and a missed call goes to a deputy who can knock on the door — the “welfare check that does not start with 911” its website describes. For a family, the call itself is as simple as it gets, there is nothing to install, and the audit trail of attempts and outcomes is the kind of record a care team appreciates. If your parent’s county runs such a programme, ask about it first; it may cost nothing.
What Athnova Care does differently
Athnova Care was built for a family spread across countries: the child in New Jersey, Toronto, London or Dubai, the parent in Lucknow, Chennai, Lahore, Manila, São Paulo or Bucharest. So the check-in goes out in the parent’s own language (21 languages), on the app they already open fifty times a day — WhatsApp — or, for a parent without it, as an ordinary phone call where they press 1. Silence is treated as a signal: a reminder, then a call, then the family, then a neighbour or relative who can knock on the door. Alerts quote the emergency number of the country the parent lives in, never a generic one.
Around that loop sit the things families abroad spend their evenings on: medicines and refills, readings and lab reports, an emergency card that opens offline, and a doctor-ready summary every month. None of it diagnoses or advises; the parent’s own doctor stays in charge.
Which one for your family
- Your parent is in a US county that runs a ConfirmOk programme with the sheriff’s office: ask there first, it may be free.
- Your parent lives in the US, speaks English and wants nothing but a daily call: ConfirmOk.
- Your parent lives in India, Pakistan, the Gulf, Latin America, Africa or Europe, or speaks one of 21 languages: Athnova Care.
- You want silence to reach a neighbour who can physically check, not a police department: Athnova Care.
- You want medicines, readings and reports kept with the daily signal: Athnova Care.
Can they be combined?
Yes, technically: ConfirmOk and Athnova Care do not interfere with each other. In practice two daily check-ins annoy most parents, so pick one for the morning question. Some families use Athnova Care for a parent abroad or one who does not speak English, and ConfirmOk for a relative in the United States who prefers it.
Questions families ask
Does ConfirmOk send the police to my parent?
For families, its website describes an alert to family or a care group. In its agency programmes a missed call goes to a dispatch team so an officer can check in person. Athnova Care never dispatches anyone: it alerts the family and the neighbour or relative you chose, and shows the local emergency number.
Does ConfirmOk work for a parent in India or the UK?
Its website describes a United States service and does not list other countries. Athnova Care works wherever the parent uses WhatsApp and phones them in 25 countries.
How long is each free trial?
ConfirmOk advertises 5 days. Athnova Care gives 14 days of the full plan without a card, and the free plan for one parent has no time limit.
Which handles medicines?
ConfirmOk’s pages describe the check-in call and alerts. Athnova Care asks about the morning medicines in the check-in, sends afternoon, evening and night reminders on the full plan, and tracks refills through the parent’s own chemist in India.
