How to read this table

We make one of these services, so weigh our view accordingly. Everything about the others comes from their own websites or store listings as they stood in October 2026, or, where a price was not on the page, from the third-party comparison named in the row. Prices change; check before you choose. Where another service suits a family better, we say so.

What the prices tell you

A plain automated daily call in the United States costs about $13 to $15 a month, or $120 to $150 a year. A conversational AI call costs the same or a little more. A human caller costs two to four times that. Free options exist — county reassurance programmes and Snug’s free tier — and for a senior in the US who speaks English and has a smartphone or a landline, they are worth trying first.

What none of the US services list is a parent who lives in another country, or who does not speak English. That is the family Athnova Care is built for: the check-in goes to India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Mexico, Brazil, Nigeria or Romania in the parent’s own language, and the follow-up call reaches 25 countries. It is also the only one in the table with a free plan that has no time limit, and the only one where the last step of the ladder is a neighbour who can physically knock on the door rather than a notification.

Questions to ask any of them before you pay

  1. What exactly happens, and how many minutes after the missed check-in, before a human is told?
  2. Who is told — the family, a dispatcher, the police? Can I choose a neighbour instead?
  3. Can my parent answer in their own language, and will the reminder and the call be in it too?
  4. Does my parent need a smartphone, an app, an account or a password?
  5. Is there a reply window, and can I lengthen it? (The commonest complaint in US forums is a window that is too short.)
  6. Does the trial need a card, and what does cancelling involve?
  7. What happens the day WhatsApp, the phone line or the app is down — do I find out?

Which to choose

Questions families ask

What is the cheapest daily check-in service for seniors?

Free: a county telephone reassurance programme where one exists, Snug Safety’s free app, and Athnova Care’s free plan for one parent (WhatsApp check-in, reminder and family alerts, no time limit). Among paid automated-call services, Iamfine and AloneAssist at $120 a year and Athnova Care at $99 a year were the lowest annual prices published in October 2026.

Which daily check-in services work without a smartphone?

Iamfine, ConfirmOk, CheckinBee (any phone that texts), Snug’s toll-free line, county reassurance calls and Athnova Care’s daily phone call all work on a basic phone or a landline.

Which service checks on a parent who lives in India or another country?

Of the services in this table, Athnova Care is the one built for it: WhatsApp check-ins in 21 languages wherever the parent lives, and a phone call in 25 countries. AyoCheck serves Australia; the US services describe US coverage.

Do any of these services send the police?

Snug’s Dispatch plan and ConfirmOk’s agency programmes can end in a wellness check by local responders or a deputy. Iamfine, CheckinBee, AloneAssist, KinStatus and Athnova Care notify the people you chose; Athnova Care adds a phone call to the parent and a neighbour before anyone else.

Athnova Care tracks and coordinates care. It does not diagnose, prescribe or replace a doctor. In a medical emergency in India call 112.
