The short answer
AloneAssist is a family dashboard built around a morning phone call made by a conversational AI: the parent chats for a minute, and the family sees a note such as “Mom checked in at 9:03 AM, sounded cheerful, mentioned making soup”. If there is no answer the care circle is alerted. Athnova Care keeps the parent’s side to one tap on WhatsApp (or press 1 on a call) in their own language, follows silence with a reminder, a call, the family and a neighbour, and sends the family a one-line note (“Papa checked in at 8:12 AM”) plus medicines, readings and reports. AloneAssist suits an English-speaking parent in the US who enjoys a chat and a family that wants a daily narrative. Athnova Care suits a parent in another country or language, one who finds talking to a machine odd, and a family that wants facts rather than a story.

What AloneAssist does well
The recap is its strength: a family that cannot call every day still gets a sentence about how the parent sounded and what they said, and siblings, neighbours and caregivers all see the same dashboard, so nobody is the lone worrier. It also lets a person living alone set it up for themselves, and offers care agencies a multi-client view. For an English-speaking parent in the US who likes the chat, it is a thoughtful product with a card-free trial.
What Athnova Care does differently
Athnova Care was built for a family spread across countries: the child in New Jersey, Toronto, London or Dubai, the parent in Lucknow, Chennai, Lahore, Manila, São Paulo or Bucharest. So the check-in goes out in the parent’s own language (21 languages), on the app they already open fifty times a day — WhatsApp — or, for a parent without it, as an ordinary phone call where they press 1. Silence is treated as a signal: a reminder, then a call, then the family, then a neighbour or relative who can knock on the door. Alerts quote the emergency number of the country the parent lives in, never a generic one.
Around that loop sit the things families abroad spend their evenings on: medicines and refills, readings and lab reports, an emergency card that opens offline, and a doctor-ready summary every month. None of it diagnoses or advises; the parent’s own doctor stays in charge.
A word on AI calls
Some seniors enjoy a conversational call; others find a synthetic voice asking about their lunch unsettling, and reporters have said so. Our view is that the daily signal should take ten seconds and feel like a message from the family, not a conversation with a machine — which is why the WhatsApp check-in is one question with buttons, and the phone call is a short “press 1”. Where a parent wants to say more, they can type or send a voice note, and it is forwarded to the family as their own words.
Which one for your family
- Your parent is in the US, speaks English and would enjoy a short chat every morning: AloneAssist.
- You want a daily narrative (“sounded cheerful, mentioned soup”): AloneAssist.
- Your parent lives in another country or speaks one of 21 languages: Athnova Care.
- Your parent would rather tap than talk to a machine, but you still want a call when they go quiet: Athnova Care.
- You want silence to reach a neighbour who can physically check, and the emergency number of their country: Athnova Care.
Can they be combined?
Yes, technically: AloneAssist and Athnova Care do not interfere with each other. In practice two daily check-ins annoy most parents, so pick one for the morning question. Some families use Athnova Care for a parent abroad or one who does not speak English, and AloneAssist for a relative in the United States who prefers it.
