How to read this comparison
We make one of these services, so weigh our view of it accordingly. The others are described from their own websites as they stood in October 2026; prices change, so check before you choose. Where another service suits a family better, we say so.

Which to choose
- Parent in India, Pakistan, the Gulf, Latin America, Africa or South-East Asia, on WhatsApp, and you want silence followed up by a call and a neighbour: Athnova Care.
- Parent who speaks Chinese or Japanese, or uses LINE: AyoCheck.
- Parent in a Nigerian or Kenyan city and you want hospital payments and an ambulance partner: Elderberry. (Athnova Care also works there for the daily check-in.)
- Parent in the US who would enjoy a daily conversation rather than a quick check: an AI companion call such as AloneAssist or inTouch.
- Parent without WhatsApp: a daily automated call — Athnova Care's phone-call check-in in their language, or an English-only US service.
What to ask any service before you sign up
- Will my parent still be using it in three months? (A message on WhatsApp is answered more readily than an app.)
- What happens, step by step, when they do not answer — and how fast?
- Is it in their language, for the messages and the calls?
- Does it alert the whole family, and a neighbour who can be at the door?
- Does it quote the right emergency number for the country they live in?
- What does it cost when the free part ends, and can I cancel in the app?
Where Athnova Care fits
Athnova Care is the daily layer: one WhatsApp message in your parent's language, a reminder and a phone call if they go quiet, then the family and a neighbour. The free plan covers one parent's daily check-in and family alerts; the paid plan adds the calls, medicine reminders, reports and our care desk. We are not an emergency service, and we never diagnose.
Questions families ask
Is there a free daily check-in service for elderly parents?
Yes. Athnova Care has a free plan for one parent (the daily WhatsApp check-in and family alerts), ANSR HealthAI has a free Basic plan, and Elderberry has a free starter tier. Check what each one does when a parent stops responding.
Which service works for parents outside the US?
Athnova Care works wherever WhatsApp does and quotes the local emergency number; AyoCheck focuses on Australia and Asia; Elderberry on African cities; ANSR on India. Most automated-call services call US numbers only.
Which is cheapest?
Athnova Care's free plan and ANSR's free Basic plan cost nothing. Among paid plans, Senior Call is $9.99 a month, Athnova Care's full plan $12 a month for the whole family, and AyoCheck A$14.99.
