What Emoha is, and why families compare
Emoha is one of the best-known elder-care memberships in India. Its website (October 2026) describes a 24/7 helpline, an emergency button in its app, a panic button or wearable, ambulance and hospital support (it says an ambulance reaches on average in 20 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic and weather), home health services, social activities, and service in 200 Indian cities. Its plans are on a separate page; in September 2026 we read prices from about ₹1,999 to ₹10,999 a month.
Families look at alternatives when they want people at the door more often than Emoha’s plan gives, when they want something lighter and cheaper that still notices a bad day, when the parent does not use the app, or when the family abroad wants an update every morning rather than only in an emergency.
The alternatives, side by side
| Option | What you get | Contact with your parent every day? | Price as published |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samarth Elder Care | Care managers with home visits, emergency response, help with hospitals and errands | Depends on the plan | About ₹10,999 to ₹16,999 a month, billed quarterly or yearly (September 2026) |
| Anvayaa | A dedicated care manager who lives near your parent, a 24/7 emergency concierge, home care, doctor visits and diagnostics; 23 cities listed | Depends on the plan | Not on its home page in October 2026; ask for a care plan. Its terms list a tiered cancellation policy (a deduction within the first three months) |
| Sentio Care | A daily AI voice call in Hindi or English about medicines and how they feel, and a WhatsApp summary to the family | Yes, one call a day | ₹699 a month per parent, 14 days free; a launch price of ₹299 a month ran for families joining by 31 October 2026 (read 27 October) |
| A hired attendant or caregiver | A person in the home for some or all of the day | Yes, in person | A salary agreed locally; see our hiring guide |
| An alarm button or fall-detecting device | A button or wearable that calls a centre or the family when pressed | No — only when pressed or a fall is detected | A device and usually a monthly fee |
| Athnova Care | A daily WhatsApp check-in in the parent’s language (ten Indian languages and 11 more), a reminder, a phone call if they go quiet, alerts to the family and a neighbour; medicines, readings and reports organised | Yes, one message a day, answered with one tap | Free for one parent (WhatsApp check-in, reminder, family alerts); full plan $12 a month or $99 a year for the whole family, 14 days free, no card |
Prices and features of other services are as published on their own websites or store listings in October 2026 (or the month shown) and may have changed. Check each provider’s site before you decide. We make Athnova Care, so weigh our view accordingly.
Which suits which family
- Parent needs physical help or someone to take them to the doctor: a care-manager service (Samarth, Anvayaa, or Emoha itself) or a hired attendant.
- Parent is independent but lives alone, and the worry is that nobody would notice a bad day: a daily check-in — a call (Sentio) or a WhatsApp tap with a call-back and a neighbour (Athnova Care).
- Parent is happiest talking, in Hindi or English: Sentio’s daily conversation call.
- Parent speaks Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali or Punjabi, or the family wants a free start: Athnova Care.
- Parent has fallen before: an alarm or fall-detecting device they will wear, plus a daily check-in for the other 364 days.
Many families combine two
A daily check-in is the always-on layer; a care manager or an attendant is the one who can go to the door. Families often keep Athnova Care running every day and book a care-manager visit, a nurse or a physiotherapist only when the daily signal shows a bad week. That costs a fraction of a full membership and still means someone notices within hours.
Questions to ask any of them before you pay
- What happens, and within how many minutes, if my parent does not answer or presses for help?
- Who comes to the door, and how far away are they in my parent’s area?
- Will my parent be spoken to in their language?
- Is the price per parent or per household, monthly or quarterly, and what does cancelling cost?
- What will I, abroad, see every day — and on which app?
Questions families ask
What is cheaper than Emoha?
A daily check-in service costs less than a care-manager membership: Sentio Care listed ₹699 a month per parent (with a ₹299 launch price until 31 October 2026), and Athnova Care has a free plan for one parent and a full plan at $12 a month for the whole family. Neither sends staff to the home.
Is there an Emoha alternative for NRIs?
Anvayaa and Samarth both describe services for families living abroad, with care managers in India. Athnova Care was built for children abroad: the parent gets a WhatsApp check-in in their language each morning and the family, wherever it lives, sees the reply.
Does Emoha work for parents outside India?
Its website (October 2026) says it serves 200 cities in India and is working towards services abroad. Athnova Care works wherever the parent uses WhatsApp, with the follow-up call in 25 countries.
Which elder-care service calls my parent every day?
Sentio Care makes one AI voice call a day in Hindi or English. Athnova Care sends one WhatsApp message a day in the parent’s language and phones them only if they do not reply (or every day, for a parent without WhatsApp).
