Daily check-in in Arabic for your parents (العربية)
Daily WhatsApp check-ins and calls in Arabic for your parents, wherever they live. See the exact messages they get and the replies they can give.
Arab families are among the most spread out in the world: children in Dubai, Riyadh, London, Paris, Berlin or Toronto, parents at home in Cairo, Casablanca, Amman or Beirut.
Every message is written in Modern Standard Arabic and avoids the words that change with gender, so the same check-in reads correctly for a mother or a father.
What your parent sees, in Arabic
These are the real messages, exactly as they are sent. The English under each one is for you; your parent sees only the Arabic.
If they do not answer
About three hours later your parent gets a gentle reminder in Arabic. In the countries our phone call reaches — 25 countries, including India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar — a phone call in Arabic follows. If there is still no answer, you are alerted, and then the local contacts you chose. Which countries, and their emergency numbers →
Once a week
Replies in their own words
Parents do not always use the buttons. These everyday replies, typed the way people type them, are understood:
| Your parent types | Understood as |
|---|---|
| نعم، تناولتها | yes, I have taken them |
| ليس بعد | not yet |
| لست بخير | I am not well |
| اتصلوا بي | please call |
| الحمد لله | I am fine, thank God |
Words that suggest an emergency — a fall, chest pain, breathlessness, in Arabic or in English — are recognised too. You are alerted at once and your parent is reminded to call the emergency number of the country they live in.
Where Arabic is spoken
Arabic is spoken in Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen and the Gulf states.
Families abroad
Arabic-speaking families abroad live mainly in the Gulf, France, Germany, the UK, Canada, the US and Australia.
Your parent can live in almost any country: the check-in, the alerts and the emergency card quote the emergency number of the country they live in. Tests and medicine refills are arranged in India only. Parents outside India →
Questions families ask
Can my parent reply in Arabic?
Yes. They can tap the buttons, which are in Arabic, or type or speak in their own words. Replies in Arabic, including replies mixed with English, are understood.
Is the phone call also in Arabic?
Yes, in the countries our phone call reaches: 25 countries, including India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Elsewhere the WhatsApp reminder is in Arabic, and if it is not answered you are alerted straight away.
Can each parent have a different language?
Yes. The language is set for each parent, and you can change it at any time.
Which language does the family app use?
English or Hindi. The family app is for you; your parent only uses WhatsApp and their phone.
